Sports Day 2019

Hi all,

Can you believe that we are already five weeks through Term 1? I can’t! Things are flying by in 2019 and I’m having a great time in P.E lessons and enjoying the extra curricular activities like Courier Cup.

With Sports Day rapidly approaching, both the kids and myself are going to get very busy preparing for the big day. Below is a list of things that I will need help with and some events your child/children could be participating in over the next two weeks:

  • Parent Helpers – Parent helpers are crucial to our Sports Day running successfully. Please see the attached Parent Helper note for more information. Please note you will be able to follow your child as they rotate around the various stations.
  • High Jump – Next week some students in years 2-7 will participate in the High Jump ‘Jump Offs’. This is done to prevent the High Jump event from running over time on Sports Day. During this weeks lesson, students had 4 chances to jump a qualifying height. Students that cleared the qualifying height will be given some information today as to when they will be jumping next week.
  • Long Jump – Like with high jump, kids will compete for placings and bonus points in their P.E lessons next week. Again this is to ensure events and programs run on time on the day. Please ensure children are in P.E clothes on the day of their lesson.
  • War Cries – War Cry practice will start next Tuesday. Hopefully the kids come home chanting their teams song.
  • 600m – The 600m distance run for students in years 2-7 will be held on Wednesday 13th of March after lunch.

Please feel free to email if you have any questions. A program will be sent home early next week once it is finalised.

Cheers,

Mr Phillips

Go Tommy

Congratulations to Tommy Shearer who came 3rd in the Distance Run at the 2019 State Surf Lifesaving Championships over the weekend. What a fantastic effort.

Courier Cup Trials

Hi All,

It was a warm but wet start to Courier Cup training this morning with 21 students attending selection trials. We had a large number of girls participate in the session with good numbers across the 2007, 2008 and 2009 age groups. Sadly, it was a different story for the boys with only 5 brave lads attending. It is not to late to trial and we will be having another session next Wednesday 13th of February at Woodside Pool. If you are a boy born in either 2007, 2008 and 2009 and are interested in trialing please come and see me.

Cheers,

Mr. Phillips
