What a Year!!

On our final day of the year I would just like to say a huge thanks to the St Michael’s school community for a fantastic year of sport and physical education.

During PE lessons students have been engaged risk taking learners willing to develop new skills and try different sports. My teaching highlights during lesson time included Gymnastics with the BLC, modified Invasion Games with the JLC, Golf with the MLC and Team Handball with the SLC.

Outside of the classroom St Michael’s has performed outstandingly at District SAPSASA championships coming fourth at the Courier Cup and winning the       Cross-Country event at Woodside and the adjusted trophy at the Athletics carnival held at Oakbank.

We also competed in a number of Knockout SAPSASA events including Netball, Football, Soccer, Interschool Gymkhana and Cricket. All these teams performed extremely well with a special mention to our Cricket team who made the State final finishing runners up to Angaston Primary.

This year we had 30 students represent the Barker SAPSASA District at State Carnivals in a range of sports including Golf, Softball, Athletics, Cross Country, Hockey, Netball, Football, Soccer and Swimming.  A special mention must go to Elle Rose Shearer who represented SA in Cross Country and Athletics and Archie King, Georgia King and Charlie Shearer who all competed for SA in softball at the recent Pacific Games.

Finally I would like to thank all the parent volunteers that help throughout the year. Without your help and support the extra curricular activities our students get to be involved in would not be possible.

May you all have a blessed and safe holiday and I look forward to doing it all again in 2018.

Thanks again,

Mick Phillips
